Week Four

June 8, 2017

Welcome to Week 4!

What a beautiful day to play golf last Thursday! Team Lord shines the brightest with a whopping 3.5 points while Team Snodgrass and Penney continue to fill their proverbial diapers. Last year's champions Team Alton get their FIRST win.

In the (0-13) Division it was the man who speaks softly and carries a big stick, Bob Weir carding a very smooth even par 36 to take low gross. Bob continues to be one of the steadiest players this league has. Congrats Bob!

It was Peter VanderValk firing a sizzling 31 to capture low net for the second straight week. This 3rd round steal is paying off early dividends for Team Smoor. This fine gentlemen is a member of the Anderson's Assassins group.  Keep up the great play Peter!

In the (14+) division in was the Italian Stalion Dino DeFaveri firing a red hot 39 to snag low gross honours. The tires were fully pumped for this mega sponsor and fine gentleman. Great round Dino!

Another League sponsor, Joe Vince fires a blistering 30.5 to capture low net. The unstable housing market has had little effect on Joe's solid play this year. Joe is it true I can get a Million $$ for my war time fixer upper on the east side of Welland???

Editors Note *

The glaring omission of Darby Berkhout's amazing hole in one on the night of Week 3 was not an oversight, we were just looking at the bigger picture and we did not want to jinx anything, as we were feverishly working behind-the-scenes to get a movie deal done in Hollywood. We need to put the tale of Darby's sporting career on the silver screen.  From Olympic rower to capturing the highest individual achievement in golf, this story must be told! We were trying to hammer out a six-part miniseries with HBO but it fell through at the last minute. We thought it was a poor casting of Owen Wilson in the acting scenes, and Peter Jacobson in the golfing scenes, anyways.

But we are proud to announce that we have signed with ABC and they are bringing back their famous after school special movies!

Brad Pitt will be playing the acting role of Darby. The Hollywood A-lister was quoted in the L.A. Times as saying  "Once I heard the story I was all in, I dropped everything I was currently working on and I told my agent I have to do this role, this story needs to be told"

We feel the casting of Mr. Pitt will best exemplify the boyish charm and rugged good looks of Darby.

Brandt Snedeker has been cast for the golfing scenes in the movie. Mr. Snedeker's is quoted in the upcoming July issue of Golf Digest as saying "I just want to be part of such a special project, we are such similar guys, we have the same game, the same hair, I just have to get into the gym and get jacked like that guy... hell I'll even wear lifts in my shoes, whatever it takes to get this legendary story told.

Access Hollywood is reporting that this project will be full of star-studded cameo appearances. Witnesses to Darby's iconic accomplishment will be portrayed by the following:

Tom Cruise as Mike Wynne

Woody Allen as Andrew Walker

Bill Murray as Rick Podrebarac

We are also excited to announce that 3-time Olympic medalist Silken Laumann has been signed on to do all of the rowing!!!

The only thing holding back production at this point is that the ABC Studios prop department can't find a prosthetic penis large enough that best exemplifies Mr. Berkhouts manhood. All parties involved agree that they don't want to see Mr. Berkhout short changed when Silken has to strap on the prosthetic "monster" for the filming of this epic movie

ABC Studios release date for

Darby Berkhout: A Sporting Legend will be on February 29, 2018

Congrats on your hole-in-one Darby !!!
