S01: Week One

Week One Recap

Week One wild windy conditions presented quite the challenge for the field, with Week One scores being higher than normal across the board. Nonetheless, we had a huge turnout despite the rather gusty afternoon.

Bruce and Team Herbeson shoot to a solo first place spot with 3 points, followed by a three-way tie for second, and a four-way tie for the final spot. Captain's Paul Lord, Earl Alton, Tom Snodgrass, and Randy Wardrope all won their Captain's Picks as themselves.

In the 0-13 handicap division, Dan "the Man" Greenwood shot a very smooth even par 36 to take down all contenders for low gross. After Dan left the press tent, he was mobbed by a group of young fans asking for autographs, and like the true gentleman he is, he handed out his "Let's Make Lookout Great Again" hats to all of them.

Taking 0-13 low net honours was none other than Lookout's own Iconic Bionic Man, Harry Weller, carding a very nice 32. This former first round pick slipped into the third round in this year's draft. A very solid pick for Team Herbeson.

Our Men's League organizer Ross Mason fired a red hot 40 to take the 14 + low gross. Ross was taken in the first round last year to crowd cheers of "reach!" from the crowd, and draft experts say that Ross was a very solid value pick in the 4th round this year. Ross thought that he had a fan asking for his autograph in the parking lot afterwards, but it was just Frenchie demanding he sign his lengthy chit of Coors Light purchases.

Bringing home the 14+ low net was none other than Lookout Point's class act, and true gentleman, Rick Campbell with a stellar 31.5. Way to go Rick! After the tremendous season Rick had year, finishing tied for 8th in individual points, most mock drafts had Rick going late in the first round. The Voice of Pelham has Rick currently ranked 5th in their Fantasy Golf Report.

In the 0-13 division, Lookout Legend and League sponsor Ken Snider snagged TWO Closest-to-the-Pin's on #2 and #5. Along with the two Lookout Point hats, we are throwing in a "Free Moustache Rides" t-shirt for Ken to sport when he is bumping around town. Newcomer Reno Tofano hit it tight on #8, congrats Reno!

In the 14+ division it was the 6th round sensation Don Robert taking #2. It was the "Portly Parcel Deliveryman" aka "Commish" aka Ross Mason winning on #5. And 4th round steal (40 individual points in 2016) Bob Wheatley took down #8.

Congratulations to our 50/50 Winner Bob Allen, and all of our Sweeps and Closest-to-the-Pin winners. Great shooting guys!

We have some last minute League member's joining, but in order to have the teams balanced, we need to introduce the new members as a set of eight. With this in mind, we need two more men to join, so if you know anyone still looking to join, please let us know!

We appreciate all of your patience as we get the website running at full speed. We will be adding new pages and updating current ones over the next couple of weeks.

Our weekly recap post on the website will go out the next day after League play, so check-in Friday to find out what happened the day before. Our weekly e-mail with important information, like the Captain's Picks, will go out Wednesday's or Thursday morning.
